Ghibli Style

So this is my attempt at painting a ‘Ghibli Style' background as I’ve always admired their style and delicacy. I also wanted to focus on painting background art as if it were to be used in an animation (the dream). This is probably the first time in a while I haven’t included any sort of characters in a piece, so that’s refreshing.

I’m still finding it hard to paint nature, as there so many focal points and colours to simplify but to also make it still look detailed. That’s another problem I have as well is getting caught up in the details which makes it lose the emphasis on certain areas to the overall painting. However, I do like the way this one turned out in the end.
